I can't make it to class! What should I do?

Sometimes, life just gets in the way of some of the fun things we have planned.  In the case of my classes, I thought I'd review my policies on class registration and unexpected cancellations.

Registration:
You must pay to register at least 2 days prior to a class.
If you have a coupon to use, you must present it when you pay.

Cancellations:
If you are sick or something unexpected comes up and you need to cancel, I will make up a kit for you to pick up at your convenience.  If you don't have the stamp I used in class, substitute a different one that will work for you.

Earning Class Chips:
Yes, if you end up needing to get a kit instead of taking the class, I will include your class chip in with your kit.  You earned it:)
Click here to see my policy for when we cancel due to the weather or an emergency on my part.
Please contact me if you have any questions.

A Rose Is A Rose Is A Rose ... Version 2

Are you ready for my second card and mini tutorial today?  Let's jump right in and get creating.  There's good news about this one.  If you've already made my first card, you'll be partly finished with the second one - without even realizing it:)  Here is today's card and one last shot at both of them.
Actually, both of the cards are easier than you'd think to make them.
Mini Tutorial:
- Start with the die cut piece you used for the stencil on the first card.
- It will already have some color one it.  Sponge on more as needed.
- Let ink dry thoroughly.
- Pat VersaMark Ink all over your die cut piece.
- Heat emboss with Clear EP.  Let cool.
- Repeat last 2 steps if you'd like a heavier coating.
- This will look like enamel when finished.
- Attach your rose with leaves to the front of your card.
- Complete your card as you wish.
- Hold them both out at arm's length and admire:)  Smile.  You did it!
I like the variation in the coloring of the die cut piece.  It makes it look more artistic.
I really hope you'll try both of these cards ... and be sure to let me know which one you liked the best.  I think I change my mind each time I look at them:)

A Rose Is A Rose Is A Rose ... Version 1

Having a little girl in the family often leaves you comparing.  Sometimes, that is the way it goes in our creative endeavors, too.  Today, I have 2 photos for you to compare --- my sweet Olive Jane ... and me.  I also have 2 versions of a beautiful rose card.

Here are the 2 versions of my card.  After you've seen all of this post and my next post, you can decide which one you like the best.
Here are the 2 little girls for you to compare ...
Here is the first rose card.
I love this text and find myself using it a lot.
A little tutorial:
- Cut rose/leaf shape using Rose Garden Thinlits.  Thick CS works best.
- Using die cut shape as a stencil, lightly sponge over the rose and the leaves.
- I used Old Olive, Crushed Curry and Calypso Coral for my inks.
- Carefully remove die cut 'stencil' and complete your card.
- Set die cut shape aside to use for the second card.
- Note:  I used a separate layer over the front of my card base, to bump it up a notch.
Don't forget to add special touches to your envelope and to the inside of your card.
Here are both versions of my card again.  In my next post, I'll give a little tutorial for making the second card.
I love both versions, so I'm still not sure which one I like the best.  In fairness, the second card looks best IRL.  Just sayin'.

We make plans ... God laughs.

So the saying goes.  Well, I don't think that God caused a mysterious leak in our roof, which ended up working its way down to the ceiling above the bar in my studio, but that's what happened.  I am sick about it.  I am working slower than ever because of my health issues and was devastated when I realized that some of the projects I had managed to finish were now marked by water spatters as the ceiling dripped down onto the bar.  I'm not down for the count yet, but a break would be nice.

I am planning to go ahead with my Spring Open House Party and my April classes, as scheduled.  I just may not have as many projects up on display.  I think you'll find that I do still have a lot to share and am going ahead with creating more, at least until repairs begin.  When life gives you lemons ... time to just go ahead and keep creating new artistic wonders:)  For today ...  I'm sharing with you some more ways to use our stamp cases.  Enjoy!
These cases are great for containing small embellishments while still keeping them close at hand.  I had room in the Watercolor Pencils case to add an Aqua Painter.
You can choose what to put on each side of your case when you add a custom divider.
Adding a coordinating strip of DSP to your cover design is easy to do and looks great.  Let the DSP be the star:)

The DSP was so pretty on the case above, that I didn't want to cover it up with a single thing.  It looks like Spring!
Wouldn't a set of note cards in a special case like this one make a great gift?
With all my frustrating health issues, I now have to limit the times I work in my studio to shorter times, with rest and/or therapy exercises sprinkled in with them throughout the day.  I've done a little tweaking and reorganizing some of my cabinets, stamp cases, etc.  I want to always know where to find each item without wasting my work times by having to hunt for something.  I hope today's post will inspire you to tweak your work area a bit, too.

Stampin' Blends Free Class Update

As you know, I've been planning a special class that I'd like to offer.  It's a coloring techniques class -- all about working with our new Stampin' Blends!  Unfortunately, these have been so popular that SU has placed them off availability temporarily, to give our supplier time to catch up to us.
So... I will proceed with scheduling the free classes for those who already have purchased their markers before all this happened ... and ... I will keep my offer open for those who'd like to order once they become available again.
For when they become available again:
If you purchase all the new markers, etc., through me, I will plan a special class - just for you!  I am not going to set a date for this class, but rather leave this open until further notice.  Once your order of the new Stampin' Blends arrives, we will plan a date together that works for us both.  You can look forward to a free class --- just for you!  You'll learn how to color like a pro and go home with several beautiful focal pieces, on some absolutely gorgeous cards!!!

Here's what your order will look like:
With tax and shipping, your order will come to $157.05 (unless you add more to your order).  If ordering online, order through my web site and use this new Hostess Code.  I'll give a new Hostess Code each month.  Your order will be sent directly to you.
GHG4V666 - NEW CODE

Sounds like fun, doesn't it. I'm looking forward to a lot of coloring fun! There are, of course, lots of other coloring techniques, using other fun products, and I plan to continue to focus a lot on a multitude of coloring techniques in my upcoming classes.

Spring Foils Treat Bag : We have a perfect trio!

What do you get when you put Stampin' Blends, a cute little treat bag and our gorgeous Spring Foils DSP into a project?   ----- a perfect trio.  I love how this project came out.  Then, let's wrap it all up with the perfect ribbon and a darling little charm.  And ... don't forget the Ready Shreddie!  I love the name!
I apologize for the weird reflections of some of the image outlines.  It's gorgeous in real life.
A little surprise:
In case you're wondering where I got a Berry Burst Stampin' Write Marker ... you're right.  We don't have one!  So what color did I use?  It's Rich Razzleberry.  Once it dried, it seemed to match the Berry Burst ribbon perfectly.  I love it!
I actually colored some of our Spring Foils DSP in 2 versions.  On some of my papers, I used a Berry Burst Stampin' Write Marker (In Color) and on some I used a Rich Razzleberry Stampin' Blends Marker.  The surprise --- Once they all dried, they both looked so much the same that I couldn't tell which was which.  How fun is that?!

As my customers who just received their orders of new Stampin' Blends keep telling me --- These are addictive!  OK, you've been warned.

Important note:
A happy/sad problem right now is that the Stampin' Blends have become so popular, that our supplier can't keep up with the demand.  The 'Blendies', as I like to call them, are temporarily on back order right now, until SU lets us know.  If you were planning on ordering these and taking my free class, don't despair.  I will extend my offer for the class until further notice.  We will have our time to enjoy this fabulous new product, I promise.

Narrow Note Cards ... Lots to Love

Note cards AND boxes?  Count me in!  I love our new Narrow Note Cards!  When I made up some note card sets using my favorite new DSP, tied them together with my favorite new ribbons, added a quick greeting, using a great new punch ..... and then popped them into the cutest little box ever ..... well, what else can I say but WOW!
The box on the left (below) is made entirely with the sturdy DSP.  The box on the right (below) is made from Marina Mist CS and then a piece of DSP added to the front of the box.

We haven't had a DSP with Marina Mist in it for a long, long, long time ... if ever.  It's such a gorgeous color.  I'm delighted to have some DSP to use with it.

You can fit several of the note cards with their envelopes in each box.  Did you notice the cute little sequins on the first box? They are adhesive backed!  How cool is that???
Quick run-down of super fun ahead:
