A Treat That's More Than A Treat

What can you put in a cute little mini treat bag besides a treat?  You can put a darling little card in it!  I confess that I've had this thinlit set for several months and didn't get around to playing with it until a few weeks ago.  Oh well... better late than never.  I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to make it and I can't wait to try making some more, using other DSP designs.
Because it was my first time making the little treat bag and because I thought the DSP was so stinkin' cute, I didn't even do anything extra to the treat bag.  When I make future treat bags, I will try out various ways to decorate them.  I used the star from the thinlit set to cut a window in the note card (after stamping the adorable stamp on the front) and then placed DSP behind the window.
There are a million ways to use this set of thinlits AND the You're So Sweet stamp set.  I've just barely gotten started:)

I've Got the Butterfly Blues

... playing with blues, that is.  Take some Lost Lagoon and Island Indigo and pair them with Mint Macaron and you get an interesting combo.  Just don't forget to add a little bling.

Black and Melon Mambo

I have often mentioned how much I love a black and yellow combo.  I also love to see black with Melon Mambo.
With the help of a new framelit and some white Baker's Twine, this card goes together pretty fast.  I also love polka dots.  I did take time to cut out my flower, but you could just stamp it onto the die cut piece.
Coloring in the flower using the Aqua Painter is a pretty fast way to add some beautiful color to your card.

Best Thoughts in Gorgeous Yellows

Who doesn't like a bright and cheerful card, especially in gorgeous yellows?!  Today's card is brought to you by Best Thoughts, one of my absolute favorite stamp sets.
I've used shades of yellow and a nice touch of green.  The Metallic Rimmed Pearl makes the perfect accent.

4 X 4 Butterfly Cards

A square cards makes for a great design and a 4 X 4" size looks really nice.  I made a whole bunch of these, for each of our new In Colors.
I used watercolor paper for the 'banner' piece and stamped it with background stamps from Watercolor Wings and You've Got This.  Stamping on watercolor paper gives a different look to the image, with added texture.
I added a smaller die cut butterfly over the larger one, in the same color as the card base.  The larger butterfly is stamped in a 3-color combo and then die cut.
For a touch of bling, I added 3 rhinestones to the center of the small butterfly.
The smaller butterfly is die cut from a new set of framelits.  Did you know that the Butterfly Basics stamp set and the Watercolor Wings stamp sets coordinate?  And, to make it even more exciting, they both coordinate with 2 of our sets of dies --- Bold Butterfly Framelits and Butterflies Thinlits.
Once you realize how these stamps and dies coordinate, you can start dreaming up endless amounts of cards and projects that you can make using them.
These were really fun and, when you get an assembly line going, they go together pretty fast.

Best If Yet To Come... Framed

I have another framed project for you today... in a square frame.  It is difficult to find a good square frame, so when I see one, I usually grab it.  I think this is my last square one, so it's about time to start a hunt for a few more... for future projects.
The Metallic Thread adds a fun touch to the flower.
Tip:
I wanted to emboss the blue butterflies with Iridescent Ice EP and the white butterflies with my mixture of Iridescent Ice/White EP, so I put a tiny bit of Snail Adhesive on the back of each and attached them to a scrap of CS.  I turned it on end and worked on one side at a time.  Each set of butterflies was inked with Versamark Ink and then the EP added.  It makes it really easy to emboss little pieces this way.
I used my Uni-Ball Signo Gel Pen to add details to the stamens of the flower.
I have a lot of layers on my hydrangea.  That's what makes it seem so dimensional.
I hope you liked this project and that it inspired you to try one.  I always make them so that I can change out the project later and reuse the frame.  It's always good to have options:)

Vintage Wisteria Wonder Blossoms Card

It's time to share the last card from my Vintage Cards class.  I love the soft purples of this one.  I have double layers of flowers and double layers of leaves.  I've stamped the inside of the card and a coordinating envelope.  My color story is Wisteria Wonder and Whisper White.
I've embossed the flowers on the vellum piece.  You can use Classic Inks to emboss on vellum because they stay wet longer.
The vellum is attached under the seam binding and the leaves and flowers, to hide the adhesive.
Here's another look at all the cards from the class.
If you live in the area and would like to join us for a cards class, my next one is on Saturday, August 15.  I'm calling it 'Great Cards' because that's what we'll be making... no special theme... just some great cards.  I hope you can join us.  I'll have some sneak peeks soon!

Vintage Crumb Cake and Blossoms Card

Today's card is in beautiful neutrals for a color story... Crumb Cake and Soft Suede, with an added pop of Marina Mist.  I've paired Flower Shop with Kinda Eclectic for a vintage look.
Of course, I had to use a little Gorgeous Grunge, too.  That's a stamp set that I don't even bother to put away any more because I use it most every day.

You'll notice that I have stamped the blossoms in Marina Mist and then sponged them in Crumb Cake.  It makes a nice pop of blue against the neutral background.
Tip for easy linen thread loops:
- Wrap linen thread around 2 fingers 3 times.
- Then wrap linen thread around 3 fingers 3 times.
- Cut and tie ends.
The leaves are stamped on the inside of the card as well as a coordinating Crumb Cake envelope.  Because you use punches for the flowers and the butterflies, it's a pretty quick card to make.

Vintage Timeless Elegance Card

Are you ready for another vintage card today.  We enjoyed making this one at my class, too.  It features our beautiful Timeless Elegance DSP.
I kept this one simple and let the beautiful paper be the star.  The sentiment is heat embossed and the black strip is embossed with our Lovely Lace embossing folder, one of my absolute favorites.
The color story is a striking Sahara Sand and Black --- very elegant!
I have two more cards to share with you from our class and then you will have seen them all, so be sure to come back for my next posts.

Vintage Thank You ... Two Versions

Here's another version of the card we made at my Vintage Cards Class.  This one is stamped and embossed onto watercolor paper and then a quick (free hand) watercolor background added.
The embossing folder is Boho Chic, another new one.
It's nice that there is a cute little stamp in this set, to stamp a coordinating envelope.
Now, let's compare it to the one we made in class.
This one is embossed in white onto CS and the embossing folder used is Elegant Dots, yet another new one.
Sometimes, it's fun to make new versions of the same card.  Which card do you like the best?
