More On Framelits and Thinlits Storage AND Updated July Class Schedule

I've had a lot of questions and feedback from many, various sources on how I created my storage system for my Thinlits and Framelits.  Today, I thought I'd add a little more about it.  It sounds like a lot of you are working on creating your own system.  Wonderful!
The questions were all about how I had made the dividers.
So, here's what I did:
1.  Cut CS ( I used black.) to 6 X 7 1/2" pieces.
2.  Cut DSP to 6 X 6 3/4" pieces.
3.  Create file tabs using the Envelope Punch Board.
4.  Attach DSP to black CS.
5.  Type and print labels on computer.
6.  Punch out labels with Scallop Oval Punch.
7.  Attach labels to divider cards and you're all ready to set up your file.
Tip:
Make extra dividers to have on hand for when new products come out from Stampin' Up!
Here's a link to my original post on my storage system.

http://nannastamps.blogspot.com/2014/02/oh-yes-i-did.html

Remember, it all started out with a rugged sewing machine drawer.
Tip:
If you are looking for a vintage sewing machine drawer, you need an extra long one if you want to accommodate 2 rows of cards like I did. Some drawers are not this long.
My magnetic cards came from Stamp-N-Storage.
So, if you haven't started your storage system yet, you have no reason at all not to get started.  If you don't have a vintage sewing machine drawer, get one of the boxes from Stamp-N-Storage or look for some other type of container that will be fun and work as the correct size.

Epic Day Washi Tape

I have one more set of Washi Tape clothespins to share with you today.  These are decorated with Epic Day Washi Tape and I use them all the time.

I've added some of our Very Vintage Designer Buttons along with Baker's Twine to embellish them.
Ways to use fancy clothespins:
1.  Use to hold important papers together.
2.  Use to clamp parts of projects together while glue dries.
3.  Use as part of your studio / craft space decor.
4.  Smaller clothespins make great embellishments.

Can you think of more ways to use them?  Be sure to share your ideas.  Leave a comment for everyone to enjoy!

Update on my husband:
Since his accident (and week in the hospital), we have seen LOTS of doctors and are now scheduled to see even more of them!  He does have an irregular heartbeat and, thus, is at high risk for stroke.  We are trying to get his blood sugar to a more even level.  He is still very tired and we're taking it one day at a time.  My time has been spent being his chauffeur and babysitting our boys.  One day, I hope to get back to some creative projects.  My soul cries out to do this.  Please keep us in your prayers.

I will keep you posted as to my plans and class schedule.  I will try to reschedule my Open House for a later date, once our lives get settled back down a bit.  Maybe we'll have it be a summer stamping party:)  It will be fun, I promise!

More Washi Tape Fun

Since my husband's accident and hospital stay, my time has been spent entirely on taking care of him, babysitting the boys and going to doctor appointments.  He does have an irregular heartbeat and they are trying to explore every possible option to try to learn why he passed out before they start some of the needed medications.  This continues to be a scary and stressful time for us, so please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

So... I apologize for a few gaps in my posting lately.  I miss stamping and hope to be back at it soon.  In the meantime, I do have more creative inspirations to share with you.  Hopefully, by the time my 'stash' runs out, I will have been able to create a few more new things to keep sharing with you.

Today, I have more Washi Tape fun to show you.  These are easy to make, fun to use and just plain cute.

Up next:

Helpful Organizational Tip

Would you like to learn a quick tip for helping you to work more efficiently in creating your beautiful projects?  Then read on, because that's just what I have for you today.  As you've seen in some of my previous posts, I like to keep my creative space a fun AND functional place to work.  I do everything I can possibly do to make my creative space a fun place to be and a place where I am surrounded by things I love... things that I enjoy seeing, things that inspire creative ideas, and things that help me in my work.  My latest antique find has proven to be at the top of my list since I got it, cleaned it up and put it into immediate use.  Check it out!
I love and adore this and now I wonder how I got along without it.  Each section is full of little goodies that I am using in my current projects.  Then... whenever I punch little flowers or butterflies, I punch a few extra pieces.  When I need to finish something quickly or realize a creation needs 'a little something more' I can look into my little gizmo and usually find just the right thing to finish my project.
Tip:
Sometimes I have extra stamped pieces.  I keep these in a stamp box for when I need something 'right now' on a project.  It is super helpful.
If you like vintage finds like this one, go looking for items you can use in your creative space.  Let me know if you find something really good!

More In Colors Creations

We've had several uneventful days lately, which is just what we'd hoped for with Bill's situation.  We are both trying to catch up on our rest, as we've both felt just absolutely wiped out from it all.  We've had so many cards, FB messages, emails, calls and all and I cannot begin to tell you how much they are all appreciated.  Thank you for your caring.  Now, it's time for some stamping!

How about some more cards using our new In Colors?  Did I mention how much I am enjoying the new colors?  I really do like them:)
The cute little bird is from our Hello Love Hostess set.  I've stamped him in gold Metallic Encore Ink, along with some little 'dots' (in gold) from our Gorgeous Grunge set, for added texture and interest.  The cute little star clip is from our new Basic Hodgepodge Clips.  I added a little gold stamped bird to the envelope, to coordinate everything.
Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day.

Work of Art Times Three

Today is all about trying the same design in 3 different color stories.  For each of the 3 cards, I used the same basic design template but totally changed the color story.  Doing so really has an impact on your finished project.  Check these out and tell me which version you like the best.
Choice 1:  Hello Honey with Bermuda Bay

Choice 2:  Wisteria Wonder with Pear Pizzazz  (Note the use of 2 strips of our Chevron ribbon behind the white layer.)

Choice 3:  Pool Party, Soft Sky and Melon Mambo
For each card, I stamped the little circle (from Work of Art) with VersaMark ink and embossed it with Iridescent Ice EP.  Then I punched it out with one of our circle punches.  Each circle is attached with dimensionals.

Work of Art Gift Card Enclosures

I'm still playing with our wonderful new In Colors.  This time, I used our fabulous Work of Art stamp set and made a set of gift card enclosures.  Since you cannot mail these on their own, I decided to add a bit of 3-D elements to the little envelopes, as well.  This was so much fun!
I actually embossed the little stamped circles before punching them out.  I used VersaMark ink and Iridescent Ice EP.  By leaving them clean and simple, I can always go back and add a stamped text or just leave 'as is' and write a nice note on the inside.

My Hero Is Home

Yesterday was a good day!  Late in the afternoon, I got to bring my hero home.  He has been a human pin cushion and has bruises, poke marks, scrapes and scratches all over.  We are both exhausted and unsure of what the future holds for us, but happy to go forward from here.  I'll be his chauffeur for the next 6 months or more.

When our sweet Olive Jane came to visit Papa in the hospital, this is what she brought that she'd made for him.
She was so excited to give it to him!  She kept saying:  "Papa, you're a superhero!"  Having my DIL and Olive Jane visit meant the world to my husband... and to me.
That's her name Olive 'signed' at the bottom.  She insisted that her daycare provider clean the brushes and mix up some white paint for her because she HAD to paint Papa's beard.  She didn't care so much about the hair, but he HAD to have his beard.  I think artistic talent runs in our family:)

More Fun with In Colors

Yesterday was such a terrible day that I don't even want to burden you with it all.  In a nutshell, hospitals need to hire someone to be a coordinator between departments so that everyone is aware of what everyone else is doing!  Not having such a person to coordinate results in a family member not knowing where a loved one is for an entire day!  I would not wish that on anyone.... ever!!!

On a happier note, before all this happened, I had been playing around with our new In Colors and made a set of note cards using them.  I must say, I am really enjoying our new In Colors.  I guess I'm a regals kind of person, because these colors just seem rich and beautiful to me.
Here's what I made:
The inspiration came from our Stampin' Up! website for demonstrators.  Of course, I changed them a bit... because that's what I do:)  I like how they turned out.  I stamped each envelope to coordinate with the card.

Washi Tape Fun

Another quick post today and then I'm headed back to the hospital.  My husband has some serious medical issues we cannot resolve just yet, so please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.  In an effort to think of something besides medical problems today, let's turn to some fun with Washi Tape.
I added rows of Washi Tape to the bottom of some cute tags, topped them with some of our wonderful ribbon and then clipped on some of our silver and gold little mini clothespins.  These would be a great little gift for a special someone.  I also decorated one of my vintage wooden spools with Washi Tape... just for fun!  This tape is from one of our Project Life accessory kits... Everyday Adventure.

Mossy Meadow and Wetlands

Today, before I head back to the hospital to check on my hero, here's a quick card I have to share with you.  I used our Wetlands stamp set (one of my favorites) and our new In Color, Mossy Meadow.  It has an oval window like this previous card I shared with you.
I tied linen thread around the top and added a knot in the ends of the thread pieces.  The inside is sponged with 3 of our new In Colors --- Hello Honey, Tangelo Twist, and Mossy Meadow.
I love this card, but it does have 1 problem.  There is no place inside to write.  Yikes!  I will enclose a separate note behind the card and place them both into the coordinating envelope (which I neglected to photograph).  This is a good masculine card, but I think anyone would like it.
Give some sponging a try.  It really adds a nice touch to your card.

My Hero And I Are Not Having A Very Good Weekend

I've been posting about my hero, my sweet husband and the excitement we've had over the publishing of his book.  Then, I've been absent from posting a few days because I got really sick and, just as I was getting better, my husband, my hero, was in a car accident.  He passed out while driving and ran into some bushes.  Thank God for strong bushes.  They think it was a blood sugar problem.  While in the hospital, they discovered an irregular heartbeat, so he is being monitored for both problems.  It has been a very scary, very upsetting weekend, but it could have been much, much worse.  He had been driving on the interstate!  Keep us in your prayers and let's hope he gets to come home soon.  Here's a shot of our sweet Olive Jane when Papa's book arrived at their house.
Hopefully, I can get back to sharing some of my latest projects soon.  Happy Father's Day to all you hero guys out there, especially my hero.

My Hero

My husband is my hero.  I think he has been ever since I met him.  He just came out with his first published book.  I'm really proud of him!  It's a wonderful tribute to his family, childhood memories and more.  We came home from a special dinner out Tuesday night and the first copies were sitting on our doorstep.  How exciting!  Here's the front of the book jacket:
It's available here:)
