Gingham Garden Scrapbook In A Box

Before I begin today's post, I want to remind you that the new catalog goes live at noon (mountain time) today!  You can place an order online through my website.  Get ready for amazing!!!

After making several of these projects with a Crumb Cake base and Epic Day DSP, I wanted to try a version using some of our brand new papers --- Gingham Garden.  This is a bright and cheerful design, for sure!  I am loving this paper!  My base this time is Midnight Muse.  I made 2 sizes of the Scrapbook In A Box projects.

A Butterfly Scrapbook In A Box

As I mentioned in my last post, I love making Scrapbook In A Box projects.  For today's box, I used more of the Epic Day DSP and placed a beautiful butterfly on top of the lid.
I started adding a few embellishments to this one --- some extra pieces of DSP layers and some of our new buttons.  I love the vintage look of these new buttons.  They come in 2 sizes.

Notice how I've chosen the DSP colors to contrast each other a bit so that all the layers show up nicely.  This one is all ready to add photos, more embellishments and some journaling.
Let me know ASAP if you would like to join us Monday night to make a Scrapbook In A Box.  They are so much fun.

Scrapbook In A Box

I think I'm addicted to my latest project --- making cute little Scrapbook In A Box creations.  I've actually made two sizes.  We're going to make the larger one at our next Hostess Scrapbook Club.  Since this is our last crop, you may sign up to attend this session as a guest.
Guests have two options for attending:
  • Place an order of $35. or more (before tax and shipping) ... OR ...
  • Pay a one-time fee of $18.  This will include all materials needed to make our project.
  • Guests must place your order or pay the $18. on or before June 1.
All attendees will receive a hand-out sheet with instructions for making more projects at home, including how to make both sizes of boxes.

Here are the first two versions that I made.  I love that you can decorate both sides of all the inside layers.  They are now ready for photos, journaling and embellishments.  A Scrapbook In A Box would make a wonderful keepsake for a special event.  It would also make a fabulous gift for a special someone, with room to add a little surprise gift in the middle of the box.

I added a filter paper flower to the top of my larger box and a paper flower to the lid of my smaller box.  To see how to make the filter paper flowers, click here.

COMING SOON:
MORE INFO ON OUR NEW STAMP CLUB (STARTING IN JULY) AND SOME SNEAK PEEK PHOTOS OF OUR PROJECTS.  BE SURE TO CHECK IT OUT!

Have a beautiful day and make it a creative one.

My Bouquet Kit and a Bit of a Storm

I decided to take my Bloomin' Bouquet Kit and make an arrangement in my favorite antique pitcher.  I love everything about this pitcher.  It has held all kinds of arrangements of live flowers.  This time, it is full of flowers that will last all summer.
Isn't this pretty?  I think the colors of the flowers go nicely with the color of the antique pitcher.
It comes with a clear button for the center of each flower, along with the floral stems.
Instead of putting the 'Create' on the side of the pitcher, I decided to actually put it into the pitcher with the flowers.  You get a choice of Create, Love, Spring or Thank You for your little banner, along with the 2 shapes to place behind it.
You also get an extra flower along with a  'You Matter'  flag to place around the stem.  The kit suggestion is to give this flower to someone special.  I got several kits, to make up later, so I pulled out all the extra Raspberry Ripple flowers and made one for each of my Hostess Scrapbook Club members.  It is fun to make something special for your home and even more fun to get to make an extra project to give to someone special.  These kits are available for a limited time, while supplies last, so let me know if you'd like to order one.  They would make a nice gift for someone --- as a kit or made up and placed into a pretty container.
When you have a smaller container, such as this cute little bottle, it looks really nice to place the label directly onto the side of the container.

Before I go, I'll share some photos of our back yard and deck.  Evidently, a really bad storm whipped through Forsyth (all through Macon County, actually) just before we got back from a celebration with our family at my MIL's yesterday.
We lost a big part of our beautiful tulip tree.  There were trees down all around our area.  We lost power for several hours.
These were taken AFTER my son-in-law cleaned up a lot of it.  The larger branch was actually ON the deck when we first got home.  I am so thankful that it wasn't worse.  The only real victim in it all, at our house, was my sweet Toby Joe.  He was all alone and quite terrified during the storm.  He was in the laundry room with the gate closed - his safety spot when we're gone - and he pulled down most everything hanging on hooks beside the door and had his blankies in quite a mess.  He was VERY glad to have us home.

By the way, if you wondered if it was worth the money to have a back-up for your sump pump that runs on water pressure when the power goes out --- it really is!!!

Have a great day.  I'm going to go put away all the candles and lanterns and try to get something done in my studio while being on Nanna duty with the boys at the same time.  It could be interesting:)

Hello, Mr. President

This was on the front page of our newspaper yesterday.  My husband, on the right, is playing the part of President U.S. Grant for a ceremony at the Oglesby Mansion.

He participated in presenting plays for the fifth grade students of Decatur to attend, to teach them more about that part of our history.  This afternoon, they are having a Macon County Honor Guard benefit and want the President and the Governor to be there as a part of it.  On the left is the gentleman playing the part of Governor Oglesby.
It's a super rainy Sunday here today, so I will take a little rest, enjoy some family time and spend some creative time in my studio.  Have a great day.

Another Beautiful Card by Lynn

Today's post features a beautiful card that Lynn shared with us at our last Team Meeting.  Enjoy!

This card is a good reminder of Spring, in case we forgot.  We have had a dose of cool weather lately.  This card is also a good example of stamping onto designer papers.  It adds a lot to your card.

Truffula Trees

Being a Horton, I have to love Dr. Seuss.  Right?  I recently made a project that was entirely just for fun and my daughter said they reminded her of the truffula trees in The Lorax.  I used the Pop-Up Posies Kit to make them.  They have little tiny styrofoam balls inside each 'flower.'
So ... what do you think?  Do they remind you of truffula trees?  Sometimes, you just have to make a project just for fun.  These were fun.
Gotta love Dr. Seuss!

As a reminder, here's the Pop-Up Posies Designer Kit:
Have a great day and try making a project that is purely just for fun!
